"Echo" by Danica Kalemdaroglu and Megan Morse Jans
Originally based on a series of paintings by Megan Morse Jans, "Echo" was developed into a movement study about the cyclical nature of our everyday lives. After an entire year of expanding the movement study, the piece began to take on a life of its own. Eventually the piece began to not only encapsulate the repetitive, but also the moments both sad and happy, that we break free from our routines.
"Bittersuite" by Megan Morse Jans
A trio set to the Dvorak String Quartet 13 in G Major that explores how painful moments in life can sometimes have the most beautiful outcomes. This work was made possible by a grant from the Maryland State Arts Council.
"Megan Morse Jan’s, “Bittersuite,” is one of my favorite works in her repertoire to date. The relationship of the dancers as individuals and to each other is a brilliant display of Megan’s fine craftsmanship. The piece flows beautifully as the dancers have an innate sense of one another on the stage and that just adds to the strength of the work. It’s the type of piece in which one can watch over and over again and continually find something new"
